This Privacy Policy explains how Appcentuate collects, uses and protects your information when you use our website and our apps, including Piko, Payify and alt. Where an app has its own privacy policy, that policy applies to the app and this one covers everything else.
1. We respect your privacy
(a) Appcentuate (“Appcentuate”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your right to privacy and is committed to safeguarding the privacy of users of our software applications and websites. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy sets out how we collect and treat your personal information.
(b) “Personal information” (also called personal data) is information we hold which is identifiable as being about you.
(c) Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
2. App-specific policies
Each app collects only what it needs to work. The app's own privacy policy describes this in detail:
- Piko: usepiko.app/privacy. Piko sorts your camera roll on your device and does not upload your photo library.
- alt.: tryalt.app/privacy-policy.
- Payify: this policy applies.
3. Collection of personal information
Depending on the app and the features you use, we may collect:
(a) Account details: your name, email address and an account identifier when you create an account, either directly or through Sign in with Apple or Google.
(b) Profile and preferences: details you add to your profile, saved items such as favourites, theme and notification preferences.
(c) Content you create: for example jobs, messages, reviews or other content you post in an app.
(d) Purchases and payments: Apple, Google or our payment processor handle payments, and we never receive your full card or bank details. We receive transaction records so we can confirm purchases and subscriptions.
(e) Device information: your push notification token, device model, operating system and app version, and app integrity checks that help us block abuse.
(f) Usage information: how features in our apps are used, collected in aggregate through analytics.
(g) Support: the content of any messages you send us and the contact details you include.
4. How we collect your personal information
(a) We collect personal information when you give it to us directly (for example, when you create an account or email support), automatically when you use our apps, and from third parties you ask to share it with us, such as Apple, Google and the app stores.
5. Use of your personal information
(a) We use personal information to provide our apps, including keeping you signed in, syncing your data, verifying purchases, sending notifications you have opted into, and responding to support requests.
(b) We also use personal information to keep our apps secure, to investigate reports and prevent fraud and abuse, to fix bugs and improve features, and to comply with the law.
(c) We do not sell your personal information.
6. Advertising
(a) Some of our apps may show ads served by Google AdMob. Where they do, Google may use your device's advertising identifier and similar information to serve and measure ads, under Google's advertising policies.
(b) On iOS we only allow personalised ads if you agree through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can limit ad personalisation at any time in your device settings.
7. Disclosure of your personal information
(a) Other users: information you choose to make public in an app, such as a public profile, can be seen by other users of that app.
(b) Service providers: our apps are built on Google Firebase, which provides authentication, database, file storage, cloud functions, analytics, push messaging and hosting. We only share personal information with service providers insofar as reasonably necessary to run our apps.
(c) Apple and Google receive information under their own privacy policies when you sign in with them or make a purchase through their app stores.
(d) We may disclose personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, legal proceeding or law enforcement request, or to protect the legal rights, property or safety of Appcentuate, our users or third parties.
(e) Information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States, by service providers such as Google Firebase. We take steps we consider reasonable to protect personal information when it is transferred internationally.
(f) If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer user databases to the extent permissible at law, under confidentiality protections where appropriate.
8. Security of your personal information
(a) We are committed to ensuring that the information you provide to us is secure. Data is encrypted in transit, and access rules limit your account data to you and the people you choose to share it with.
(b) Although we take measures to safeguard against unauthorised disclosures, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Access, deletion and your rights
(a) You may request access to, and correction of, personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you would like a copy of the information we hold about you, or believe it is inaccurate, contact us using the details below.
(b) You can delete your account from within each app, or by emailing us. Deleting your account does not cancel an app store subscription, which you manage through your app store.
(c) If you live outside Australia, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation or the California Consumer Privacy Act. These can include rights to erasure, portability, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us to exercise them.
(d) You may complain to us, and if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) or your local privacy authority.
10. Cookies and tracking
(a) This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
(a) We may change this Privacy Policy in the future. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
